Hello friends! Although I love sharing my written work with you all, I realize it’s been a hot minute since my last post on Life in Colour. I thought it would be fair to share what I’ve been writing lately and my upcoming projects. For the majority of 2019, I’ve been submitting university papers, having fun with friends and writing poetry. I am currently working on a new project called “Conversations about Racism with People of Colour (POC)”, organizing interviews and listening to the opinions and experiences of those involved. I am hoping to publish this piece near the beginning of September so stay tuned!
Recently, I wrote a piece about seeing happiness as a choice and I published it to Elephant Journal. You can read it here. It’s a longer read and quite persuasive as it’s a topic I’m VERY passionate about. I was inspired to write this because each of us decide what happiness means to us and whether we are actively choosing to manifest it within our lives. Yet, I often hear/ read how people think traumatic experiences, mental illnesses and disorders, wealth and income, geographical location, and social comparison hinder them from being happy. While these things can shape our perception of the world, there is a distinction to be made. Happiness is a feeling; it is an outlet for people to fight against the adversity they are dealt and respond suitable to their circumstance. It is entirely up to each person to identify and choose happiness apart from other emotions and to honour how they feel as a truth. I hope this piece inspires you, sparks joy and possibly shifts your perspective.
You can support me by clicking the link to the article above, commenting, “hearting” and sharing (this’ll actually help me become a paid writer on Elephant Journal). Overall, new pieces will be posted to this blog as I have a ton of spare time on my hands. I appreciate the loving support everyone on this platform has given me thus far and I’m always happy to hear your thoughts on the posts I share with you!
Have a wonderful day, wherever today finds you.
